Kyoto

The Fushimi Inari Shrine is the most photographed and the most recognised image reflecting a shrine in Japan. Thousands of bright red/orange vermilion torii gates wind over the trails to the sacred Mount Inari. Here you will find traditional houses and colourful geishas set amongst the serenity of gardens.

Hiroshima
Hiroshima, although now a vibrant and modern city it is well known in world history for its tragic past. The Peace Memorial Museum is a significant reminder of the utter devastation caused by the atomic bomb that was dropped in 1945.
There are poignant reminders and the iconic shrine Itsukushima can be found on the island of Miyajima, well worth a visit to take time to reflect.
